OUR PURPOSE

Objectives of the Odisha State Population-Based Cancer Registry

Building a complete and reliable picture of cancer across Odisha—so evidence can guide prevention, care, policy and public health investment.

01

Statewide registry coverage

Establish Population-Based Cancer Registries in all 30 districts of Odisha to understand the true burden of cancer across the state.

Consistent population-level surveillance will include urban, rural and underserved communities. Comparable district records will reveal geographic patterns and guide focused action.

02

Reliable cancer evidence

Generate dependable district-level data on cancer incidence, mortality, prevalence and survival, analysed by sex, age group and cancer type.

Standardised collection and validation will make trends comparable across districts and over time. These insights will identify priority populations and help health teams measure outcomes.

03

National planning contribution

Contribute OSPBCR findings to national cancer registry data, supporting the development of informed cancer policies at the national level.

Sharing harmonised data will ensure Odisha's cancer patterns are represented in national estimates. State evidence can shape broader prevention, screening, treatment and research priorities.
